Clan Mode Patch Notes
Monday, June 23, 2008 —
During the Wednesday server maintenance period this week we will be pushing the new Clan Mode update to the live servers.
Here are the patch notes:
- Clan Mode:
- Clan mode has been implemented! Players will be able to create and manage their clans on the Exteel website. A login is required—use your game account name and password. The Clans page contains pretty much all the information you’ll want to know about clan creation, restrictions, and so forth.Here are some important reminders:
- To create a clan, the player must be level 20 or above.
- To join a clan, a player must be level 15 or above.
- A clan only becomes “Regular” once it has 8 or more players and can participate in clan battles. If the clan subsequently falls out of Regular status, it can still participate in clan battles, but after 30 days it will receive a warning that it will be dissolved in another 7 days if it doesn’t get back up to Regular status again.
- A clan at level 1 (one that just forms and becomes “Regular” for instance) may only have up to 15 players at any one time. To be able to admit more players, you must raise your clan level. You can only do this through clan battles.
- A clan tab has been added to the main lobby. You can use this to see what clan battles are going on or what clans are looking for battles. You can still see this if you’re not in a clan, but you won’t be able to join any of the rooms. If you’re in a clan, you can only join a room your clan is in.
- A Clan Battle mode has been added. You will not be able to play with this battle mode if you’re not in a clan. If you are in a clan and want to start a match, you first set the match conditions, including the maximum size of your team (between 4 and 8), then launch the room. Other members of your clan can now enter the room. From this room, on the right-hand side, you can see a list of other rooms hosted by clans looking for opposing clans to fight. You can click on the clan to get their pedigree, or invite them to join your room for a battle. Invites last a maximum of 60 seconds. If a clan accepts an invite, all of the people in its clan room will get transported into your clan room (on the opposing team). You can then start the match once everyone is Ready. Battles cannot start if the size of the teams differs by more than one player. You will not see a room if it doesn’t meet the minimum number of players (4).
- Clan Battle mode is essentially Team Deathmatch, except instead of tallying points for kills and assists, you deduct points from the opposing team by killing opposing team members from a Clan Battle Life total. The size of the total depends on how big the team is when the match starts. Each team also has a light tower at their base that will take massive amounts of damage before being destroyed. A team that loses their tower will lose 30 points from their Clan Battle Life. The tower can be healed with rectifiers and both teams can see the tower’s health bar. Towers are also guarded by 4 drones that do not respawn.
- Clan Battle Life totals:
- 8-11 players: 60
- 12-14 players: 80
- 15-16 players: 100
- Clan teams that win will receive more Clan Rank points than teams that lose. These points will then be added to the clan’s overall rank. As the rank goes up, the clan’s level increases and more players can join up, etc.
- 7-day items:
- We’re celebrating the launch of Clan Mode with the implementation of 7-day items for the next month or so. These 7-day items do not have durability but expire 7 days right after purchase. The current 7-day items are:
- All -B grade weapons.
- All parts from the following Mechanaught sets (not the full sets themselves):
- Stallion
- Stark
- Haskell
- Scootwing
- Davenstar
- Zeeker
- Blitzker
- Jaywalker
- Hellfire
- Bastion
- Boosters
- All skills
- Purchasing availability:
- NCcoin-based item -> 7-day NCcoin only
- Credit-based item -> 7-day credit or NCcoin versions available
- NCcoin or credit-based item (ie. skills) -> 7-day credit or NCcoin versions available
- Prices and item availability are not really set it stone and may change over time.
- The store is now a little different:
- Weapon sorting is now nice and proper so that weapons now are shown in order, with –C being on top, -B in the middle and –A grade weapons on the bottom.
- References to Rank and Durability have been removed from the Store front—they should just list Price and Series now.
- When you get the item's purchase screen, you now have to physically select which version you want to buy (if there is more than one option). With the addition of 7-day items, there may be 3 or 4 options to choose from.
- 4 new weapons have been added to the game (all credit-based):
- Saint Guardian-A
- Reconstructor-A
- Apogee-A
- Siege Caster-A
- Team Deathmatch, Territory Control, and Capture the Flag now require a minimum of four players to play (a 2v2 match).
- To thank the Dungeon Runners team for taking Exteel along with them on their retail release this week, we will be increasing inventory space by +5 for every inventory increase bonus gained during leveling, except the maximum (for now) is still 80. This means that Trainees (level 1) will now have 40 inventory spots.
- The room auto refresh timer has been beaten repeatedly and agrees to refresh now at 60-second intervals.
- Players will be able to see basic stats for everyone else on the Exteel website.
- Weapon balancing: we’ve gone through an initial pass weapon balancing. All weapon classes (ranged, melee, siege and rocket) have been balanced and most if not all weapons have been gently touched in some form or fashion.
- The Superior Earth Stomp skill has been fixed and no longer stomps everyone out of the match (and their client). It has been returned to the store. Those that managed to purchase this skill before we took it away will be compensated with the skill in the near future—hopefully on patch day or maybe soon thereafter.
- The names of 7 skills have been changed:
- Atonement -> Fatal Diplomacy
- Ghetto Blaster -> Beat Down
- Honcho -> Capital Punishment
- Twin Stars -> Meteor Strike
- Homing Laser -> Phoenix Fire
- Backbreaker -> Blitz Action
- Fatal Cry -> Death from Above
- Two additional level filters have been added:
- 25 ~ All (25+)
- 36 ~ All (36+)
- Known Issues:
- The zero durability bug is still with us unfortunately and has proven a bit more elusive than we thought. We are still working on the solution and a compensation program is being discussed for those that wasted all their repair points trying to get it fixed. If you see some or all of your Mechanaught parts or weapons suddenly hit zero (0) durability right after a match, just log back out and back in again and it should be fixed.
- The name of the clan may get truncated after 8 characters while being displayed in the game.
- Website functions such as clan and player stats as well as clan management tools are considered to be in "beta" and may experience unforeseen issues. They can go offline, not work, or display wrong data at any time. You can use the Report a Bug link if you encounter anything unusual.
